1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Turbo z review from North America
"Fast and fun, beautiful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator.
Cv boots, front axles.
Timing belt.
Clutch @ 65,000 miles.
Internal oil leak in the Turbo, which as caused it to be parked until repaired.
Steering rack and K-member.
General comments?
I do love this car, we bought it new in November of 1987.
It is fast, handles well, is still very pretty and modern with 4 wheel disk brakes, an inter-cooled turbo, leather seats that have many ajustments, 50 series tires, stainless steel exhaust, and a strong getrag 5 speed transmission.
It can be difficult to work on, and I think the front axle is not up to the power this will produce. The steering rack is also a weak link (leaker) and it has cracked the k-member more than once from twisting forces up front.
