1999 Dodge Durango SLT review from North America

I got my 99 Durango June 23 08. It had some issues when test drove it at the used car dealer where I got it. It needed a water pump and a O2 sensor.

I noticed that the oil pressure was right under 40. So gave it an oil change and put 4qts of Max Life 20-50 and 1qt of Lucas oil stabilizer in, and the pressure is up at 60. The dealer or people they got it from were using too thin of an oil for the mileage this car has.

Three days after I bought it, I took a trip to California towing a fully loaded trailer, total weight 2500 pounds and about 800 in the car. On the way back to Arizona I had 3000 pounds and 1500 in the car; not one problem there and back! It towed well. It has plenty of power when you need it, and no over-heating.

I think the the car is great, maybe for now who knows.

All I can say is that I've owned 5 Chrysler products out of 53 cars with the Durango now. A 1977 Chrysler Cordova with a 360 Magnum, 1976 Dodge Charger with a 318, 1977 Plymouth Voyager full size van "4 wheel drive" with a 318, and I still have and drive every day a 1977 Dodge 1 ton tow truck with a 360, and a Dodge tradesman 200 full size van with a 360. Not one of these Chrysler products has ever let me down.

The funny thing is you might think I praise them because I'm a die-hard Chrysler guy... but the case is I'm an Oldsmobile guy!!!
