1999 Dodge Durango XLT 4X4 review from North America
"The Dream Machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At approx. 45,000 miles my rear left brake locked up. Malfunction of part, paid for by warranty.
At 75,000 miles rear air conditioner developed a leak, which seems to have fixed itself as I couldn't get the work done at that time (needed the vehicle for use) and it no loner leaks.
The ley to success maintenance maintenance maintenance, these autos are great, but you have to service them.
General comments?
I love this SUV!
We have four kids, plenty of room for passengers, baggage, toys etc.
Plenty of power ports for portable video games.
Enough room that now when "grandpa" comes we don't have to take two cars to dinner.
The interior has held up to not only the kids, but the dogs and bales of hay, grain, a bunny, a move, sheets of plywood and on one occasion chickens.
We can drive our steep pastures to feed horses and get turned around amongst the trees (wheel base turn ratio is awesome).
Steep, windy mountain roads it handles like a sports car.
Hauls our two and three horse trailer up the same steep windy mountain roads as good or better than our Chevy Truck! (Which it also pulled out of the muddy pasture last winter when the truck got buried up to the axle)
We have hauled over two tons NO PROBLEM! Three tons and the steep road to our house gets it huffing and puffing, but it made it.
