2000 Dodge Durango R/T review from North America

Window motors for Front Right and Rear left door.

Electric lock motor on Right door.

Switch for electric windows for both rear doors.

Ball Joint in Front suspension.

Fuel sensor & resistor (this took 3 trips to figure out, 2 to the dealer which they couldn't figure out and 1 to a private mechanic who hit is first time)

Worst of all, fault in the throttle housing cause the throttle to stick open, crashed the car into a pole.

First, my wife and I LOVE this Durango for the looks and comfort of the car. We live in CA and have taken this up and down the state, VERY comfortable and roomy. Also, have taken it skiing with friends piled into the car, more than enuogh room with 6 adults and ski stuff ontop of the SUV. Handling in the snow was awsome.

Now, the bad part. This is our 2nd SUV and both have been maintenance nightmares. We need an SUV for kids, but this thing is in the shop more than not. We have 4 other cars, Porsche, BMW, Conquest and Fiero. The SUV by far spends more time in the shop and it is the NEWST of all the cars. However, we put up with it because we need an SUV and we truely do love the car when it is working properly.

Dodge mechanics are idiots to say the least. We have been to three different dealships in the bay area, all three are totally incompetent. Thank God I am done with the manufacturer warranty and onto the extended warranty where I can go to anyone.

Lastly, there was a flaw in the throttle body for which the throttle was stuck open, my wife was driving, freaked her out. Everything was repaired, but Dodge really dropped the ball, our insurance company and lawyers had to step in to get things right.

Overall, love the looks and comfort of the SUV. However, quality control and reliability leave a lot to be desired.
