1999 Dodge Durango SLT review from North America
"Expensive Hunk of Junk/Don't buy a Durango"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
We bought this in July of this year with 54,000 miles on it, I fell in lust with the looks and the third seat for kids. Less than 2 months later she started stalling on me for no apparent reason. We replaced the crankshaft sensor, did not fix. So finally we took it to the local mechanic who told us 1. the PCM (powertrain control module) was faulty, 2. the plenum gasket was blown.
So to make a long story short went to Dodge dealer after we fixed the plenum gasket ourselves and they tried to tell us it was the CTM (central timer module) even though I have done my homework and told them I think it is the PCM, they changed the CTM. It still stalls. I don't advise you to question a dodge mechanic, they were not very happy when I questioned them and put my 2 cents in. I did manage to get a written statement that if the CTM did not fix my problem they would reimburse me the cost. You should have seen how everyone in the Dealership stared at me, I felt bad, but guess what, I was right and they were wrong. How can Dodge build these when they cannot even fix them?? So now when my husband gets back from Detroit (where this has stalled twice in one day on him while driving on the 696) we have to take it back again. Can't wait to see how they all look at me when I go back. This vehicle is Junk.
I can't wait to sell it. What is the lemon law and who do I complain to?
General comments?
The only good thing about this is the interior, it is comfortable, but if I wanted a comfortable place to sit stationary it would on my couch. I like my vehicles to actually get me somewhere. I am buying another Toyota as soon as I sell this hunk of junk. Oh and I need new ball joints too, which from what I read should be recalled. But Dodge will not take responsibility for any of this.
