2000 Dodge Durango SLT review from North America
"Great Car, has served me Well!"
General comments?
I have owned my Dodge Durango for a few years now and I have yet to have any problems. I have had it maintained like the factory says to do any regular mile intervals and it has worked extremely well.
I have and still use this car for trips to my local mountain tops as well as Vegas trips and normal daily use. It has never failed me.
Of course the gas mileage is not the greatest, but hello?! for those who are complaining... what are you buying an SUV for if you want great gas mileage? I knew what I was buying. I wanted something more roomy, but I didn't want a van, I wanted something with more power to get me up those mountains, but I didn't want a big tank of a hummer. So in between there was the Durango.
I gave this car a 10 on performance due to the fact that it has always handled well, has great power for towing as well as climbing those hills.
I gave it a 10 for reliability because it has never stalled on me, and I have never had any problems with this car that have left me on the side of the road, late for work, or out of a trip.
I gave this car a 9 for comfort only due to the fact that I would have liked if the decals that say Dodge Durango were high polished chrome instead of brushed chrome and also I wish the interior came with full dash trim kit instead of only part. All of which I just fixed and replaced myself. I guess that's all just personal preference though and not really Dodge's fault.
I left a N/A for dealer service marks because I never took my Durango to the dealer I have always had it maintained by my own private mechanic as I do with all my vehicles.
I left a 7 for running cost because like I stated earlier it doesn't have the best gas mileage, but it's an SUV so I really can't complain, it makes up in power. For those who can't afford or just don't want to buy the gas, you shouldn't be buying a car that uses a lot in the first place.
I would definitely buy another car from Dodge and I am planning to do so soon. I have my eye on the RAM 1500. Dodge has not let me down and I doubt they will. This car handles well, has great performance, power, room, comfort, seating etc...etc.
For those who complain try to better maintain your car, it's a huge investment so invest a little more to take care of it and it won't let you down. Car manufacturers make hundreds of thousands of cars so of course there are going to be a few bad apples and that's where I think car companies should take action, but for the most part, most of those car problems are our own faults we sometimes just don't want to admit it.
