The Chrysler Dealer had to replace my transmission at 48,000, 53,000, and at 64,000 miles. That's three times!
My paint is flaking off the hood and roof.
My Anti-Lock Brakes warning light is on and dealer can't figure it out.
My brakes are soft and dealer replaced everything including the computer.
The belt tensioner unit had been replaced by the dealer 3 times because they fell off the engine. The Technicians failed to use Loc-tite on the nut that holds the unit onto the engine. I did the fourth unit myself and it hasn't been a problem since.
This 3.8 liter engine has been very reliable and strong. It does not leak oil and starts up every time like new.
The interior is very spacious and comfortable.
Great gas mileage! 18 city/ 21-24 highway.
First off, I don't really have any complaints right now, basiclly just a few questions. I have a 94 Dodge Grand Caravan SE and I just got it from a dealer yesterday with a full tank, well, I drove maybe 45 to 50 miles today and it ran out of gas. I filled it up, (only took $7.00) so my question is, do they have small gas tanks or did I just buy a lemon? Also, my back wiper isn't working if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it greatly, Thank You.
Yolanda.
Just a quick note to Yolanda.
The tanks on these vans are around 20 US Gallons.
You should be getting at least 350Miles/tank.
There was no mention as to why you thought that you were out of fuel. However, one would assume that it was because the fuel gauge indicated so. If this is the case, then you should have the sending unit checked. This is a device that indicates to the fuel gauge on your dashboard how much fuel there is in your tank. If it is not working properly, then the fuel gauge on your dash will read incorrectly.
Good Luck!
Brian.
Brian, I want to thank you for answering my question. I am having it put in the shop on Tuesday and I will ask them to check the sending unit, Thanks again, Yolanda.
A note to all Caravan owners and many other car owners with automatic transaxles as well:
Have your transmission filter and fluid changed every couple years. It's a ton cheaper than buying a new one. There is a possibility that many of the reviewers that have shelled out big bucks for a "new" trans actually got a new filter and fluid at a cost of about $25 to the dealer (cost based on the last time I did mine). The owners manual on the Grand Caravan shows the filter should be changed every 14,000 miles. See any correlation between that and the above "replacements"?
