"Very poorly made. Would not buy again"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The transmission has failed. It has been repaired, but I am still having problems with it.

I have also had to replace the head gaskets.

The electrical has gone out and been repaired.

General comments?

It seems to be taking me to the repair shop more frequently now.

I would not buy another Dodge car, nor would I recommend this car to anyone.

Very poorly made and it will cost a lot in repairs!!

I agree. The electrical module just went out in my van and I'm going to have to buy a $350-400 dollar part to fix it. Its only 5 years old! I have had it in the shop quite regularly for this and that. Most recently, one of the blinkers shorted out and almost caught on fire.

I disagree whole heartedly. Our 1998 Grand Caravan has been a real workhorse. 100,000 miles now and only a couple of minor quips not worth mentioning.

All vehicles are not assembled with the same care. Were talking union labor here!

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan SE Sport

Vehicle was purchased new in the Washington, DC area.

Build date July 16, 1967. Purchase November 29, 1997.

June 10, 2003 - Transmission differential pin knocked a hole

through the side of the transmission case at 68,074 miles.

Repair cost in excess of $3600.00.

Chrysler paid "half" or rather

charged me $1800 and said they paid "half".

November 20, 2003- At 72,236 miles replaced engine with Jason re-manufactured engine rather than with Dodge because Jason corrects the engineering faults when they rebuild these engines. They are apparently not designed to oil the top side properly. Push rod had punctured the rocker and the rocker arm tower broke.

April 7, 2004 Just returned from dealer having been told that Chrysler will do nothing about rust that is causing paint to bubble on the right front quarter panel. This is

clearly another case of improper preparation of the metal before priming and painting.

Anyone who thinks this vehicle doesn't have problems should perform a boolean search using "Dodge Caravan" and "transmission".

I agree also. I have a 98 Grand Caravan SE and my transmission blew. This was at about 77,000 miles. Thank God it was still under warranty. After that we had multiple cooling problems, the water pump failed along with the radiator fan relay control. Now I'm getting door ajar all the time so I'm guessing one of the switches is bad. The steering lock is out, it is possible to shift in and out of gear without pushing the brake in. Overall horrible design and obviously they did not take their time on the transmission.
