2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ES review from North America
"The decline of the minivan"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Automatic sliding door problems.
Power steering rack replacement.
Replaced struts.
Clock runs slow.
Driver's seat heater replaced.
Dash venting for passenger is erratic.
Auto rear hatch sometimes doesn't work.
General comments?
Having owned 6 dodge minivans in the last 15 years, I have proverbially seen it all with this model. The best year as far as quality control and reliable, low/no maintenance was 1996 with a 3.2 liter engine. Then I began to see more and more quality control problems which miraculously happened right after that 3 yr/36k mile warranty ran out. Luckily, most of the cited problems above were under warranty.
Highway cruising is very enjoyable as the 3.8 engine is strong in any of its 4 gears.
Very reliable transmission.
