1994 Dodge Grand Caravan SE review from North America
"Dependable work horse"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission hesitated. Knowing the Dodge transmission issues, I had it flushed and replaced the fluid. No problems since.
Brakes replaced at 125,000.
Muffler replaced at 125,000.
Rear wheel bearings replaced at 125,000.
Starter at 135,000.
Air conditioning needs recharge annually.
General comments?
The 94 is much more powerful than my 2001. It really zips!
The ride is good, but not as smooth as the 2001 we own. It has the sport package which actually has a stiffer/sportier ride than the non-sport.
Tons of room. It's a great hauler.
This car was bought to drive while our 2001 Beetle was constantly in the shop. We ended up keeping it because it works so well. It now does duty as my 16 year old daughter's driver.
Overall we really love Grand Caravans. We have owned three (two 94s and one 2001) and have had nothing, but good results from all. There have been no transmission issues to speak of. We are sure to change fluid at 100,000 miles which really seems to firm things up. I am currently looking for another 2001 to replace my 99 Chevy Astro which has been a nightmare.
