I too would like to find information regarding the class action suit. I had a 1998 Intrepid which I leased from the bank. The lease agreement came to full term last week. Two months ago, at 62000 miles, the engine blew up. Now of course the lease company wants me to pay $5,500 to have the engine replaced in the car which I don't even have any longer. I feel like I should not be liable to pay for this repair. Please contact me with any information regarding the class action suit. patrick.wolff@wcom.com.

I am amazed to see this many people are having the same problems I am. I have a 98 Intrepid with 89,000 miles that blew up one week after oil change. I have also had window problems, and on many occasions light failure. Now I owe $11,000 and have been paying for a car for almost a year that I can't drive and like many of you I can't afford a $7,000 bill for it to be fixed. I would love any info on the class action law suit you can email me at SUPERINTREPID01@AOL.COM I used to love my car now I love to hate it.

99 Concorde

Engine died at 58000 miles. I owned the car for 8 months and had one oil change. Bought it from a dealership that claimed it had passed all their "inspections." In the glove box, I found a Coupon Book that indicated that the vehicle was a company car for a sales rep. ALL the coupons were gone. That means to me the car was maintained.

Same symptoms as every else. Engine sludge. Sign me up for the lawsuit.

I own a 98 Dodge Intrepid that has been sitting at a mechanics parking lot for a week now.

The symptom: ticking sound, cutting off when slowing down, horrendous noise then kaput! The car died in an hour with no previous problem in the engine. It has an extended warranty. It has 84,000 miles on it. The oil has been changed regularly. The warranty company needs the last 5 receipts of the oil changes and needs the engine torn down and pictures taken and an inspector to come out and look at it. The warranty company will not pay for repairs that cost more than the car. The value of the car is $3500 the estimate of work to be done is $4500. I owe $10,000 on the car! How did this happen?? Phone call after phone call has gotten me nothing! I am paying for a car, and extended warranty that I can do nothing with! What can I do?

Hi I am david and I own a 99 Dodge Intrepid with 54,000 miles on it.

I too owe money and this lemon and right now it is in the transmission shop needs a new trans

I took great care of my car, oil changes faithfully every 3,000 miles and this happens.

I am at my wits end and so disgusted with the American Car Manufacturer.

My wife tried to warn me buy Foreign, but I wanted the Intrpid never again.

Next car is going to be a Foreign one.

I have a 98 intrepid that in all honesty have had no problems out of to date it has 105k+ on it. I have a question What oil are all of you running to have a sludge buildup. engines do not cause sludge buildup bad oil does? Your class action suit may be against the oil manufacturer. also how many change your own oil? A friend who goes to one of these oil change places recently lost oil pressure. When the engine was checked out it was plugged with sludge and buildup the oil filter had never been changed. just a thought.

I am an owner of a 99 intrepid, I loved this car until it started giving me the same and all the problems all of you have listed, unbelievable, I bought it at 7800 miles and it started giving us headaches around 85000 miles, and now we are at 105000. And it is a never ending money trap. It had regular oil changes and etc. for the two that said nothing is wrong with your car, then you must not even drive it, but only down the street and back because it is obvious, that something is totally wrong, and that we are getting put into debt over something that is not even going to last! I would like info on this class action suit as well, mrrugratz1@aol.com.

We own a 98 intrepid and the oil light started flickering after a recent oil change. My husband believes it is not a sludge problem, but a sensor problem, which is not uncommon for any of the manufacturers to have the same problem. The intrepid has 70,000 miles and the engine doesn't make the sludge it is the oil you use that makes the sludge. We've owned more Chrysler products than anything else. Three of these were trucks with more than 220,000 miles each. At this point we have two trucks with over 130,000. We sold a 91 dodge caravan that had 180,000 miles on it and the owner now (who is a friend) has well over 220,000 miles on it. Mark & Ellen Simon mrssimon@nmo.net.

I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid with 43000 miles and a seized engine due to "Sludge". Oil was changed regularly and now I own a huge paper weight. The car was less than 5000 miles out of warranty and Chrysler or the dealership will do nothing. This is a wide spread problem with the 2.7 liter engine. I cannot afford the $7500 for a new engine and it is senseless to purchase a used engine for 3 or 4 thousand dollars just to have the same thing happen. I would greatly appreciate an email if someone knows of a better course of action than just using my car as a greenhouse. JPKortze@erineng.com.

I have a 98 dodge intrepid with the 2.7liter. Judging by all the other comments on here I got pretty lucky my engine did not blow up until I had 129000 miles on it. I was quoted at 3600 for a brand new motor from Dodge, what I want to know is if this NEW motor will be any better. Has dodge fixed the problem?

Please sign me up for any law suite. I have a 99 Concord and I am very angry about the problems I have been having lately. I read all of the comments and the same thing is happening to me. My oil light keeps coming on. Before I could get my car to the auto shop the engine light came on and my car stopped in morning traffic. I took it to the shop and they said it was my sensors. They fixed the problem I think, but now my oil light continues to come one. I am scared this is what happens when the engine is about to go. I have 73,000 miles on the car and I am still paying for it. PLEASE sign me up for any law suite.
