Bad Intrepid ES???
Dodge Intrepid 2001
Engine: 2.7.
Engine knocking due to built up of sludge.
The front windows make sound like they grind.
My oil light stays on when I brake even after I finish changing the oil.
The car braked two times on me while on the freeway in heavy traffic.

OK, it finally happened to me as well. I did not know about this issue until yesterday. We purchased our '01 Intrepid in 2002 with 9k miles on it. I've been using Mobile 1 10w 30 and K&N filters since day 1 and change my oil every 3000 miles. We currently have 119k miles on it.
Yesterday my wife said the car was overheating. I told her to stay put and then drove over to look at it. There was very little coolant. I checked to see if there was a leak but there wasn't, so I added some. The oil was a touch low, so I had her drive to the auto parts store about 1/2 mile away. When I removed the cap to put in oil, I noticed foamy white stuff in the cap. I knew it was water in the oil and thought that the head gasket was going. Upon talking to a mechanic, he informed me of this issue. I added 1/2 a quart of oil. I didn't realize how serious it was, so we drove the car about 1 more mile. Now it won't start. Had it towed to a garage and are waiting for a verdict. I now know what this issue is. We haven't much trouble with this car at all and were hoping to get another 2 years out of it. Guess I search for a different car... and I'm not having other taxpayers help me buy one!
