1993 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"Great looks, great performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had to replace the spark plug wires almost as soon as I got it. The engine was missing at low rpm and I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it easily.
The car has some surface rust on the bottom of the door seams. However, it's 10 years old so I suppose that's to be expected.
I have had the sway bar links replaced, as well as the ball joints.
The transmission downshifts from 2nd to 1st very slowly. You have to make complete stops or else you will feel a considerable lurch as you catch the transmission between 1st and 2nd. My mom has a 2000 intrepid and hers does the same thing with 30,000 miles on it. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with my transmission so apparently Chrysler can't make a smooth shifting transmission even after all these years.
General comments?
This car is a great highway car. It holds to the road very nicely and the interior is extremely roomy. I have had 6'5'' friends sit comfortably in the backseat for two hour road trips.
The 3.5L engine provides plenty of power when needed, but can still get 25 mpg on the highway.
This is a great car if you drive long distances. It has a huge trunk as well!
