1998 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"Daimler chryslers junk should have stayed in the computer"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1. Transmission range sensor went bad at 28000 miles, 1 week after the warranty expired. Dealer charged $350.
2. Battery died spilling corrosive acid out damaging sorrounding metal. Replaced with non leak optima gel battery, cost $120.
3. Speed sensor had to be replaced at 31000 miles. Part cost $ 17, 15-20 minutes work under the car. Replaced it myself. Dealers quote was $200.
4. Radiator cooling fan blew up with smoke coming out of one of the motors. Motor cost $160. Ordered the entire fan assembly at directauto. com for $199.95.Doing it myself. Takes a good 2-3 hours.
General comments?
Too many repairs just outside warranty. The car looks and rides good. Has a great sound system (Infinity sound system). But looks can be fooling. It is not worth the hassle or the money to buy this car. Simply said stay far far away from any Daimler-Chrysler product.
