The check engine light stays on permanently.
The brakes squeak and groan, very scary.
The headlights are a complete nightmare.
The car likes to be going along letting you get completely relaxed and then all the lights light up on the dash and boom it shuts off!
A very dangerous car, not something I want my family in.
The car is very nice as far as roomy and handling that's about it.
The Dodge dealers will not repair.
After taking to the Dealer they told me to just let it die.
Interesting, I have a 96 Dodge Intrepid that I bought new.
I have seen a similiar problem. None of the dash signals will work, I turn the car off and on and MAGICALLY things start working again. This also affects the engine timing and transmission. I paid almost $400 tto replace the printed circuit board, and the problem still occurrs.
I don't think I'll buy another Dodge. My mileage is only 106K.
Sounds like your ignition switch is defective.
I have a 96 dodge intrepid 3.3l and I had the same problem it was a defective ignition switch.
I own a 96 Intrepid and the check engine light will not go off. I have spent over $600 on fixing it just so I could get an inspection. In the meantime the car runs great I have had no problems with it. I have 80K on it, any suggestions???
