1999 Dodge Intrepid review from North America
"A poor vehicle with no resale value that could put the average family into bankruptcy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
30,000 miles transmission sensor
42,000 miles transmission sensor 2
59,000 miles electric windows switch
59,000 miles, high oil conusmption, Jay Wolfe Dodge, Lee's Summit Mo. said a quart of oil per 900 miles of driving normal
65,000 miles heater/ac control out
75,000 miles transmission sensor 3
89,000 miles oil consumption now at one quart per 600 miles, blue smoke from tail pipe extreme loss of power especially on hills. Dodge dealer says normal for the amount of miles.
99,000 miles blue smoke much worse, attempted to have extended warranty cover obvious defects, warranty company declined repairs estimated at over $5,000 because we could not prove oil was changed at 3000 miles although owners manual states oil change under normal conditions 7500 miles.
General comments?
This is only a readers digest version. It would take a day to report each and every problem with this horrible vehicle. The service manager, who has been fired recently, told me months ago that we were lucky to have driven the car so many miles without complete motor failure. Not only do we have a vehicle that is ready to dye at any moment, but we still owe thousands more than it is worth. A local Pontiac dealer offered 1700.00 trade!!!
While the extended warranty covered some of the repairs, this car will turn out to be the most overall expensive vehicle I have ever or will ever own. They retain no value whatsoever. Under no circumstances purchase a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle. Trust me.
Use any search engine and type "dodge defects" and start reading. Be prepared to spend several hours of blood boiling time reading other consumer complaints.
Class Action? Not sure if it would do any good, but I would be in for the fight.
