1997 Dodge Intrepid Base review from North America
"This is an excellent car and was a bargain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything that has gone wrong has been the result of normal wear and tear. For example, within the past 6 months I have had to replace the front sway bar end link bushings and the front brake rotors.
There have been no other major problems; today I expect to hit the 100,000 mile mark.
This is the 3.3L base engine and has been highly reliable. As it has a timing chain and not a timing belt, there is no threat of a break damaging the valves. It is delivering 27 mpg along with decent performance. That is pretty good for a big car.
General comments?
I have found this to be an excellent family car. It was my wife's vehicle for several years and now I use it to commute up to 100 miles per day. We bought it when it was two years old.
I expect to go at least to 150,000 miles.
The paint and interior have held up well.
