The timing chain broke at 60,100 miles.
The car performed fine until the engine failed.
I needed to add a little more information on my above post.
I bought the car brand new in Aug 2000. I had it serviced regulary, but I didn't keep the documentation. The rest of the car is in very good shape.
Hopefully, a lawsuit is forthcoming. I, too, will never buy a Dodge/Chrysler product.
I think this is one of the very few reports I've read of the 2.7 timing chain breaking. 99% of the complaints concerning the 2.7 on this site have to do with oil-related failure due to sludge buildup.
65,000 miles here. 2000 Dodge Intrepid ES with 2.4L engine.
Car was great until the timing chain broke. =___=
