1999 Dodge Intrepid Base review from North America

In April of 2004 my son came to me needing me to sign for a car. He needed a reliable 4 door sedan to haul his family in, and to get him back and forth from home to work. We also agreed to purchase a warranty for the car. Thnk goodness we had the smarts to. Before fall, the engine started making a ticking noise. I told my son to take it to the dealer where we purchased the car and have it taken care of. well, they kept putting him off and putting him off until finally the engine blew and left him stranded between jobs. He had the car towed to the dealership. They kept mentioning that if there was any sludge that we would be responsible for replacing the engine to the tune of a min. of $5,000. Well, thank goodness my son had his maintanence records and there was no sludge, but the fact still remains that the engine blew up for no apparent reason. I asked the dealer what could have possibly made the engine go, he said he didn't know. I paid the deductable and the dealer found a used engine with 20,000 less miles on it to put in the car. Since the the alarm system has quit working, the heater fan will only work on high and the driver side rear door lock doesn't work most of the time. My son has since gotten himself into trouble and now I have to pay for the car. I have been trying to sell it, but no one wants to buy it. They are more informed than my son and I were. The car still runs, but the warranty is up and I don't have the money to buy another and I'm afraid the second engine will blow-up soon. The Chrysler Corp. should take care of their custmers.

This car is very nice looking.

For a large car it handles very well.

Has plenty of power.

Chrysler needs to take care of the engine problem.
