1998 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"Intrepid costs more in repairs than its worth"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Speed Sensor went out at 50,000 miles (for the second time) causing speedometer to quit and power steering to lock up mid travel.
A/C and Fan Belt blew at 67,000 miles costing $300.
Driver side window motor replaced due to inability to go down costing $175. Passenger side window sticks.
Rotors completely warn after 40,000 miles.
Rear door seals constantly fall off.
2.7L engine seized at 78,000 mile without warning (no engine light) on a four lane highway at 50 miles per hour. I had to glide off a crowded highway nearly causing accidents into a gas station in a dangerous neighborhood by myself at 10:30pm.
All of these occurred after only driving the car for a year. My grandfather had multiple problems only having driven 39,000 miles in 6 years.
The Dodge Intrepid is nice on the outside and very comfortable on the inside. However, nothing compares to driving with your fingers crossed in hopes you make it to your destination.
