2000 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"A sexy and sporty car that has fatal design flaws"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rubber door seals shrunk allowing wind noise into car. Dealer "repaired" under warranty by cuting and stretching seals.
60,000 complete rack and pinion sterring failure. Dealer/Dodge refused to pay for any. They even charged me for a front end alignment! $960.00. total bill.
Driver side window falls off track at 61,000 miles and won't go up straight.
Interior dash lights flicker bright/dim while driving on occasion.
Keyless entry horn signal mysteriously stopped beeping when door locks.
Lower tie rod assy replaced at 61,000 miles.
General comments?
This car looks great. It handles like a sports car and has a ton of room, especially in the trunk. The 3.2 L engine is smooth and reliable.
After all that is said, the car has started to fall apart after 60,000 miles. There are over 650 complaints for the 2000 model alone on a famous auto complaint site.
When Chrysler was informed of the excessive number of total steering failures for this car (and it's sisters Concord and 300M), it refused to admit any design problems even though there are. From this one safety flaw alone, I wouldn't buy a car like this again. The steering went out with hardly any warning and could have killed someone.
