It has a blown head gasket. The cost to fix the car cost the same as nice used car. It has two timing chains and 4 cams. This means the cost is two times more to fix then other cars in its class.
This car is an excellent car to spend all your money to fix.
2001 Dodge Intrepid nightmare on pocket.2.7 v6 engine $7800 to fix. I never want to see this car. Bought the car used still owe $4800.
I don't know how much weight to give the March 7th comment. Anybody who spent $7,800 fixing a 5-year-old car that they still owe $4,800 on isn't really a beacon of good judgement and straight thinking. Who knows how bad they: 1) trashed this thing and 2) got totally screwed over by some mechanic who recognized they had no idea what they were doing.
