My head gasket blew at 39,000.
My rear main seal blew at 52,000.
The radio stopped working at 52,000.
The inside trunk release broke at 50,000.
I have replaced numerous parts of the emission system.
My brakes scream when pressed. No matter what the weather is like, the brakes screech, squeal, & scream. I've had the pads & rotors replaced. They still scream.
Recently, it has started stalling for no apparent reason. This condition is sporadic, so it's impossible to figure out the cause. Sometimes it's when turning left, sometimes when at an idle, sometimes on the highway, sometimes it runs just fine.
The paint has now started peeling off in sheets.
The engine is extremely noisy when first started.
I can hardly wait to see what goes wrong next.
Avoid Neons like the plague. They are no bargain.
I to am suffering the sporadic stalling, I must admit though I bought the car used and now have 147,000 miles on it, regular maintenance is the only thing I've had to do until this problem started. Does anyone know why this sporadic stalling happens and how to correct it??
For the stalling... try change the following...
1. The Idle Air Control valve located in the intake manifold.
2. Fuel filter.
3. Fuel pump.
4. Fuel pump relay.
Change one after another if not already changed.
P.S: First of all check for any vacuum leak at the intake manifold gasket or at the EGR valve area.
cheers

I think I know the problem, my Neon to does the sporatic stalling and we had the fuel pump replaced to find that it still did it. My dad talked to a Dodge garageman and he said it's because they never put fuel filters on them so the dirt eventually plugs up the fueline which causes the stalling and then when it breaks up and just floats around the car runs proper again.
