1996 Dodge Neon Baseline review from North America
"An excellent car for budget minded individual"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Head Gasket started leaking at 96000 miles.
Fuel Pump went out at 120000 miles.
Starter went out at 95000 miles.
General comments?
Great car for the money. Its been very dependable through out the life of the car. I feel that most of the work I've done is typical of a high milage car except for the head gasket. Its obvious that is a known issue with Neons. Aside from that, as long as the maintence is done regularly it should last you a long time.
Has had typical Head Gasket problems, Chrysler wouldn't cover it because I was lazy and didn't report the problem until it had 110k miles on it.
Did all the maintnence and repairs myself, and I think its one of the easiest cars to work on.
Considering the miles and abuse I put on the car I managed to get the original clutch to last 96k miles and am now on my third set of tires.
