1996 Dodge Neon Base review from North America
"Get the base model and you may have luck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The gasket seal leaked at 50,000 miles.
General comments?
This car has been an excellent A to B
car. It has been very reliable and I
don't have any complaints. I know several people that have bought neons. It seems that the base level neons with manual transmissions and no bells and whistles are very reliable while more advanced level neons are unreliable.
The only problem that I ever had with the car is the gasket seal leaked oil on to the wires and spark plugs. I took it to the dealer and paid $400.00 for a full fledge tune-up and the replacement of the gasket seals.
The car gets good mileage and the manual transmission is easy to shift. A friend of mine had 150,000 miles and never bought a clutch.
