1998 Dodge Neon Sport review from North America
"Consistant and Relaiable if Maintained!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The head gasket really began to let go at 160,000.
The engine light routinely comes on, caused by the number 3 cylinder misfiring on a cold start.
The seats are totally uncomfortable.
General comments?
This car has been reliable with not too many over the top repairs. The car now has 224,000 miles. I just put a new brake system in about 4 months ago, along with a new cooling system in around 215,000. I cannot complain to much with the original clutch and still averaging around 35 miles to the gallon. My main issue with the vehicle has been the number 3 cylinder misfiring but once the oil comes up and out of the pan, everything runs smooth. I reset the computer's check engine light by disconnecting the negative battery cable, waiting 30 seconds, and then reconnecting. This is the dealers way of telling me that this is really the only solution. It is a flaw since day one when it came from the factory.
