1984 Dodge Ramcharger Prospector review from North America
"Tough as nails, extremely ram tough!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Ram Charger was not running when I bought it, it had sat for about 3 years. So I had to do a full tune up oil change, battery, and replace the frozen 2 barrel carburetor.
After about a year the automatic hubs stopped locking so I replaced them with Warn manual hubs.
At almost 2 years I replaced the U joints in both axels.
The 2 barrel Holly died again so I replaced the intake and carburetor with an Edelbrock 4 barrel intake and carburetor setup.
General comments?
The truck is a very good performer on road, but seems to take to off roading like it was supposed to be there.
The 4X4 in a stock Ram Charger is well Ram Tough like the commercial says. I'm not an extreme off roader, but there is very few places I'm afraid to go with my truck.
It handles great on trails and is well suited to trail driving. The 318ci with the 4x4 low gear has plenty of grunt, to get out of most situations.
