Don't listen to anyone who even remotely says something about the lifters. This would be a good remedy to the ticking except these engine don't have lifters. I have little experience with these cars, but this is basic knowledge. (try checking around the timing chain... I know 4.6 Mustangs are notorious for ticking caused by timing chain tensioners going bad) this is why I only go with OHV.
I own a 92 base model Stealth, and I love the car. It was and still is my first car. I bought it for a grand off my cousin, and all I needed to do at the time was an alignment. Then I broke the flange coming off the headers drifting, but that was my fault.
Alternator died at at 181,000 miles, but other than that I've had no problems. The car runs awesome still, and goes very well for a base model.
The lifter tick I do get from time to time, but that goes away as long as you use 10w-30 oil.. .I've used 5w-30 and the tick won't stop.
