Chrysler continues to keep me satisfied!

Faults:

Since owning this car I have not experienced any problems with this car, nor had the previous owner.

General Comments:

This car has been an overall pleasure to own and drive and has taken all my passengers by surprise.

1998 Dodge Stratus Base 2.4 4 cylider from North America

Summary:

Low quality car

Faults:

I would not recommend this car to someone that is looking for a reliable form of transportation. I have replaced the brakes 3 times since 1999, it doesn't start easily (have to keep starting it up when it sits for more than an hour) Because it doesn't start easily it also is bad with gas mileage. Other things include the rear defrost is broken, interior lights on dash sometimes go out. Wiper washer fluid doesn't work on drivers side.

General Comments:

One of the nice things about the car is that it is very peppy. Pretty fast for a mid size car. It has comfortable seats and all the driver controls are in a good locations. I like the cup holders and it has good head room. Overall the mechanical problems outway the good things about it.

1998 Dodge Stratus LX 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

Nice Wheels - some maintenance required

Faults:

Door panel separated from driver's side door. Front left wheel bearing needed to be replaced at (122000Kms). Oil cap needed to be replaced and oil light keeps coming on when the brake is applied, but the oil level is fine.

The cruise control is really flaky, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

General Comments:

Nice car, but it has some annoying problems. Has surprising pickup for a small, inexpensive car and I find it handles very well on the highway and in the city. The cabin is spacious and nice, but for one thing (like everyone else) the cup holders suck!

My 98 Cirrus is having the same "oil light" problem. If you have fixed this problem, please e-mail me with what you did to it.

Thank you

1998 Dodge Stratus SE 2.2L from North America

Summary:

Generally reliable, fun to drive

Faults:

The head gasket blew at approx. 75,000 miles. I was fortunate in that I still had 74 miles left on my extended warranty and all repair costs were covered (including partial car rental). Evidently the 2.0 and 2.2 L motors are susceptible to this specific problem as noted by dealer svc man. This is the only real Achilles heel of this 4 cyl. model.

Periodic "struggling" of motor when at idle; usually only lasts about 2 (long) seconds. Otherwise unremarkable.

Replaced blown left front brake line. Aftermarket product remedied problem of OEM brake line (mis-located reinforcement).

General Comments:

On the whole, the car handles well and can be pushed somewhat hard with little protest or lack of confidence. Though struts are beginning to show a little weakness at 99,000 miles (not bad, I guess).

Power from the 4 cyl. is "eager" given the car's weight and size.

Braking is sufficient with no fade. Have not yet replaced rotors/drums.

I have taken care of this car and thus has take care of me.

Generally a rather comfortable car as far as driving is concerned. Otherwise, comfortable with ample room in rear seat.

Cup holders/ash tray configuration make little sense/difference in the way of driver convenience.

Interior charcoal colour is much easier on the eyes than the beige.

The only real concerns are said "head gasket" and independent crash tests (i.e.: "no guarantee of walking away under your own power from a 35 mph corner impact" -disturbing).

I have to wonder if this is the 2.0 or 2.4 liter motor. They did not put a 2.2 liter in this car that I know of.

1998 Dodge Stratus ES 2.5L V6 from North America

Summary:

A great, fun, and loveable car

Faults:

I hit the bottom of the oil pan on the road and had to replace the pan and gasket.

The only other thing that happened is the a/c had to be recharged 2 times.

General Comments:

It is a great car and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good used car.
