2001 Dodge Stratus SE review from North America
"It's a great car, and I would definitely own another Chrysler/Dodge vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had the rear suspension replaced at around 76,000 miles, because the mounting brackets deteriorated and broke.
At around 80,000 miles I heard a few clicks behind my steering wheel on a -35 degree day in February when I was moving my car at work. At the same time, my airbag light came on and the horn and cruise control quit working.
General comments?
Transmission has a mind of its own. While it shifts smoothly and does so when appropriate, it offers quick acceleration from a dead stop occasionally, or offers sluggish acceleration at times, as well from a dead stop.
The Stratus warms up quickly in winter and handles great in snow. Controls are simple and within easy reach.
The engine could be quieter. Fluid checkpoints are easy to locate and reach under the hood. Very stable and solid ride.
