1993 Eagle Summit from North America - Comments

"Try to avoid buying one!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This was a junker if there ever was one. I had so many problems with this car and I believe it had Mitsu engine parts that were the cause. The tires made this loud popping noise when you turned, the engine sounded like a lawnmower no matter what I had done to it.

General comments?

Disaster... I've heard that all of Eagles cars were this bad and I believe it.

I'm finding it real hard to get parts for mine. Any suggestions. Besides the junkyard. Can't find them there either.

Re: 1993 Eagle Summit DL 2DR:

A runner. I've dented it up over the past 9 years, and the interior hasn't held up terribly well - the vinyl fell apart and the cloth is worn out on the driver's seat. I'm looking for a good-quality replacement. And the rail that allows the seat to move is rusted/worn.

Mechanically, it has been good. I bought it for $9300 Canadian. Overall a good investment. Low maintenance costs (mind you, low mileage - 55,000).

Manual transmission is getting a little worn, but the clutch is fine. Motor is good! - 1.5L, enough pep for city driving.

Handles well enough with rack and pinion (I believe) and front-wheel drive is OK. Get good-quality tires - it'll help.

It's a little noisy on the highway (I don't really mind). Headroom is good (I'm 6'2").

Stylistically, it has held up. It was the first year of the new design, and, for the money, I still think I got a smart-looking car (colour's no help - sort of a weird blue).

Worst feature has got to be the rubber moldings that keep road-noise out. They're really poorly made. And the step-plates (also reduce noise) are wrecked (cheaply, cheaply made).

You get what you pay for with this car, in my opinon.

Yep I do have some comments... I have my own car, I'm only 17, and that my car, which is Eagle Summit 1993, and my car doesn't have any problem... except for that automatic belt... it sometimes opens when the door opens...
