1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD review from North America

"Fast and Furious!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The starter had to be replaced at 90,000KM. It functioned fine, but made a horrible screeching noise when I started the car in the morning or during cold weather.

To the people who have problems with talons/eclipses/lasers:

A car is an investment. You must take care of your investment. If you don't care for it, it won't care for your. Having said that, follow the maintenence procedures that are outlined in the manual! If you have the turbo model, use synthetic oil and 91> octane gas. Let your car cool-down before you shut it off after driving it hard. This will prolong the life of your turbo. If you don't like waiting for the turbo to cool down, purchase a turbo timer. Owning a turbo car is a whole different ball-game, so be prepared!

The people that experience crank-walk are the people who don't maintain their car properly, and/or modify their cars to an excessive level of horsepower. These cars can easily be modified to output well over 300HP. The more aftermarket horsepower you add, the more chances of under-hood problems as with any car. Not to say that any mods will harm the car, but excessive mods can.

General comments?

Very fast car! 210 HP stock, and unlimited potential for more power with its huge selection of performance aftermarket parts.

One of the few stock turbo/AWD cars available on the market, so it's in a class by itself.

One of the best looking stock cars available. It gets respect from the guys because of it's power, and gets glances from the gals because it looks so good! The front-end looks like it's aftermarket, but is actually stock!

The car has absolutely no problem in the snow and rain.

Handling is excellent. Stock 17" rims are a big plus, and complement the all-wheel-drive feature.
