Turbo went a few months after I got the car. I sold it for what I paid for it at an auction ($800).
I loved my Eagle Talon, but I got an 89 Honda Civic Right after the talon died for $900. Now The ball joints, tie rod, bearings and tranny are going and I have the oprotunity to purchase a 90 talon tsi with 81,000 miles. mint, 5-speed, one-owner, new engine 1 year ago. the new engine is guaranteed to have under 70k on it, but he has no idea exactly how much. I would appreceate it if someone would leave an opinion on what I should do, I'm in quite a predicament and have about $3,000 to play with, which is what he wants for it. oh, ya and I deliver pizzas so a lot of stoping and starting.
I have a 1991 eagle talon tsi and it runs great... it has been in the shop a couple of times because the previous owners did not know what they were doing and did not take care of the car... I would tell you that if you have the opportunity to get an eagle talon tsi with 70k miles on it I would do it... mine has 161k on it and still outruns those big v-8 engines that people think are so great... so I would yeah to getting the talon... and stopping and started won't really matter.
My friend has a 90 eagle talon tsi awd he just races a 2004 lexus v6 and beat it his turbo is not boosting right hes having some problems and still beat him, but his cluch went out right after the race.
He has a leak in his transfer case and he can't get his car to go in to 2nd gear. its still fast even with all the problems. i had a 94 accura integra v-tec with 22000 miles on it. it had a tv ps2 full body kit rims lowered momo racing steering wheel and racing seats. it was a nice car till about a week ago I fliped it 3 times. it was a head turner. i was going 120 down a road and a turn came up and I got sideways hit a dich and fliped. i walked away from it OK, but I missed my car. back to the talon it's a good fast car if it runs good I would for sher get it.
So did you end up buying the eagle talon?
I have owned a 90 talon TSI for about 6 years. Timing belts not replaced get expensive with motor repairs. Have to keep an eye on the brake wear. All around great car, fast, sporty, and reliable. Body is giving up, and I hate to let her go. Haven't had a car that can compare. Not corvettes, camaro etc. Cheryl.
I am the proud owner of a 1990 Eagle Talon AWD TSI Turbo and I'd have to say that its the best I've had. It's a very reliable car besides the outrageous cost to get a clutch installed. But, if there is anyone out there who knows this car very well, the turbo is stock and needs to be rebuilt, and I need to know exactly what size the turbo is.
