Clutch grinds when goin into first... or Reverse.
Just got the car... Car grinds when goin into first gear (60% of the time)...IF I go into second then first I hardly get any grinding... even in reverese I get a lil grinding... previous owner must have driven it a bit hard... have read about eclipses having bad clutches...not about 98 talons though... give me some feedback if you have the same problem and tell me how you fixed it...
Eclipses and Talons are the same car. Only difference is slight body modification and different badges. Mitsubishi wasn't introduced into the Canadian market until recently therefore the car was badged a Eagle Talon. Eagle being the Canadian version of Mitsubishi at the time.
It sounds like the synchros in your transmission are worn out and could indicate that the car was driven hard by the previous owner.
