1995 Eagle Talon TSI AWD review from North America
"It's like my girlfriend; fun, sexy, but expensive to maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first bought the car, it needed a a rear wheel bearing ($400 CDN plus labour)
Had to replace the harmonic balancer and the serpentine belt a few months later. (almost $1000 CDN with labour)
Needed another rear wheel bearing.
The ABS stopped working. No code was found. After many hours of labour, a malfunctionaing relay was found in the front of the car.
I had problems with the stereo cutting in and out. I took the dash apart to find a loose wire, but could not find any problems. I then installed an aftermarket stereo and I have experienced no problems.
The clutch is shot and needs replacing.
General comments?
Really really enjoyable to drive. This car is faster than most stock vehicles on the road right from the factory.
It's a shame that these cars are so problem prone, because they are easy to fall in love with.
Very nice interior if you find one with leather.
Handles amazing. My dad has a Porsche Boxster S, and of course its not as a good, but its comparable.
Overall: Don't buy this car unless you are willing to sink $1000 into it every 2 months.
