Would like to add that this is clearly a US review. I've ordered my 612 last year and have to say that you do get a lot of customized options from Maranello here in Europe. some of them are: Full Navigation, Dolby Surround, heated seats, Sport seats, comfort seats, parking Camera front and back and much more. I wonder if they now also deliver the HTGS pack in the America’s. And I do have to agree it is a very good and reliable car (as Ferrari, does not have a good track record). I use it almost every day and still only had minor failures.
The 612 is a wonderful machine. It took me a while to warm up to the transmission; it shifts HARD, although that's reasonable for the type of car this is. The Bose system sounds fantastic, and I like the Bluetooth pairing feature. The engine is just amazing in terms of both sound and performance. It makes this fantastic "rrrrrroaAAHH" at full throttle. The rear tires hook up so well you'd swear it's all wheel drive (it's not). If you need a family car and have to have a Ferrari this would be your only choice. :-) Even the trunk space is impressive. But my favorite aspects of the car? The G forces and the engine sound.
>Off Topic question for this Link...
I like this link and am thankful to the insight into the Scaglietti. I find myself coming into a windfall and am considering filling a 3 place garage in North East Florida. I wish there was such active comments on the 1999 Bentley Arnage as a daily driver, repairs and service experience.
1* I'd also like to hear a Service comparison between the Scag and the 456.
2* Would Ferrari drivers consider a 1999 355 Spider to be a better first Ferrari than the 456 or the Scaglietti?
3* Is a Arnage and a 355 a better combination than a v12 4 place Ferrari coupe?
I am obviously a first timer (other than a Lotus, a bunch of germans and Pantera restoration that never got finished having been confronted with a bag of cash at a weak moment) and don't want to make any huge mistakes and to get beyond my inner 16 year old (screaming buy them all) and make the best considered choices that will bring the most saticefaction.
I hope someone here on the Scaglietti link will be able to help. I've worked pretty hard to get here and want the experience to be as worthy as the 22 year journey would demand.
I'm just starting as a collector and realize I can only drive one at a time, so the voice of shared experience is nice to hear to avoid new collector errors. This is a great site and very helpful in my research. I'd like to take my time and make three (3) smart buys that I can enjoy for many years to come.
I sacrificed my youth to win this time, I want it to be worth it.
Thanks.
My budget is going to allow for an older Ferrari 400i / 412. I believe this was the first four passenger and looks timelessly better than this new lady, albeit pretty.
12 cylinders and a GM Transmission for the autos; hope I don't regret it. Chow!
