1997 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting review from UK and Ireland
"Great cheap fun car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Pretty much nothing. I needed a cheap car after I lost my last, company car at short notice. I bought the Cinquecento at a car auction, and - predictably enough for an auction purchase - it needed a bit of work. Since then, though, it's fine. The trim rattles a bit, and over time the angle of the driver's seat slowly moves back. Once a month or so I have to adjust it back to where I want it.
General comments?
Like I said, I bought it because I needed something cheap, and this was about as cheap it gets. It's bright yellow, which seemed like fun. It's got Sporting written on the back and I thought "how on earth can anything that small be Sporting?!" Well, it is easily the most fun to drive car I have ever owned. It's not the most sophisticated, by any means, but boy is it fun. It makes me grin every day. Partly because you can see mothers pointing you out to their children, saying, "Look at the funny little car!"
