1995 Fiat Cinquecento SX review from UK and Ireland
"An ideal reliable first car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The drivers side door lock needed tightening as it didn't shut tightly enough and would often stop the central locking from locking up the car.
The handbrake cable snapped around six weeks after I bought the car. This was quite cheap to replace though, I managed to get one for £13, amazing!!
The washer jets (both front and rear) didn't function at all, but this was also cheaply fixed by replacing the valves with new ones, from a fish tank pump!!
I also had to change the rubber on the passenger side window as it often pulled out when the window was opened and shut.
The thermostat switch for the fan also didn't work and the car boiled (poor thing!!) every time I was stuck in traffic. Again this was easily fixed and cheap enough too, as I bought a new switch and it only cost me £8, bargain!!
General comments?
All the bad things aside, this car is great, I love it!
The first thing you notice when you get in the car is the great all round visibility!! The car seems so open, and the driving position is also great!
I haven't yet started to "funk my car up" body wise, but I do intend to! Inside the car I have made minor changes such as covering the seats with a sports style set of covers. I have also bought a set of Sony Exploids which I mounted in the parcel shelf, and the difference is definitely noticed!
Many people have commented on how small the car is, but with the rear seats folded down it turns into a mini-van!! It's amazing how much will fit!! I managed to get all my camping gear in!!
This car is a great run around, and is very cheap on petrol, £20 will fill the tank up and I easily manage 500 miles on a tank!! 40 mpg is easily achievable from this little motor!!
This is a very fun and fast car! It's also very quick off the mark due to the power to weight ratio, I often find speed I never knew this little car had!!
I paid £850 for my "Funky Monkey" as I call her, and I am so glad that I did! I love it, what more could I want for a first car - sunroof, CD player, central locking, and electric windows.
