2000 Fiat Marea JTD105ELX review from UK and Ireland
"Performs extremely well, but I find it a very awkward engine to work on"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Anti-roll bar drop links, several times.
Clutch release bearing.
Gear linkage.
Starter motor.
General comments?
I have the service records of the car and it has required new drop links three times.
Clutch release bearing fault necessitated a new clutch and I found the job extremely awkward because the gearbox would not come through the nearside wheel arch without releasing the engine bearers and lifting the engine across to the offside.
The latest problem - starter motor failure - is due to having had to force the vehicle to do a 350 mile journey without 1st and 2nd gears. The gear lever positions gradually moved across to the nearside until 1st and 2nd gears were unobtainable. Local Fiat agents have never had this problem. Gear cables are without any adjustment.
