2002 Fiat Multipla ELX from UK and Ireland - Comments

"A very pleasant and revolutionary car to live with"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The alternator warning light sometimes comes on in rainy/damp weather, when car has been sitting in a wet patch.

A couple of other warning light faults shortly after acquirment, now cured.

A widespread fault on all mutipla's is a noisy gear linkage, this is heard from the cabin under braking, and is quite easily fixed. We will take our's in to be fixed soon.

Radio came out a one stage. (fixed)

Battery flat on return to UK, new one fitted.

General comments?

On the whole it is a great 'revolutionary' car.

The interior is fantastic, it gives you a great airy feeling. You look down on everybody too, with a fair sized, seperate seat for everyone.

The car is very good for it's dimensions. Although people may be put off by it's width, having three seats a breast, it's quite maneuverable once youv've tested it a couple of times.

Amazingly, it is only as long as a Fiat Bravo, while still having good interior space aswell, AND being able to carry six cases too. (Although I wasn't completely convinced by that at first)

The only doubt I have about this car, is the build quality. It isn't that bad, but SOME interior components are easily scratched, the rest is OK.

We are soon replacing the front foot plates soon, as one is cracked, (I think by me!),and the other is worn.

The dealer has been very nice, for the few times we have had to see it. Had bump with a bollard, earlier on in the year. Had it fixed at a separate priory workshop. However this was slow and they took too long. (Nothing to do with fiat)

What exactly is 'revolutionary' about this car??

I fail to see anything about this car that qualifies it as 'revolutionary'

Me thinks you fear design boldness. Of course anyone can see the Multipla is an unusual and forward thinking car design, perhaps even revolutionary... you on the other hand sound like a Xsara driver.
