The car came already from the manufacturer with 6 defects:
Noises and knockings from undefined parts of the car.
Noise coming from the front suspension.
Noise coming from the left front wheel.
Knockings from the steering wheel, when turns the from both of sides.
Noises from the dash.
Drivers seat faulty and causing noisy.
Problems at long of the two years of ownership:
Alarm failed at 1000.
Oil leaks coming from the gearbox at 2500.
Noise coming from the gearbox when hook the third gear at 3.700.
Air con failed at 4.000
Reverse light not working at 5.300.
Headlamps replaced at 6.400.
IlLumination dash replaced at 7.800.
Oil leaks from the carter at 8.400
Front electric windows (both) refused to up at 9.600.
ImMobilizier system failed at 10.200.
Air con failed at 11.800.
Driver's timing seat belt recalled at 12.700
Handbrake not holding at 13.600
Gearbox replaced at 14.800.
Electric locks failed and keep unlocking by themselves at 15.500.
Front speaker blow at 16.000.
Brake pads replaced at 16.700.
Clunk in the front wipers at 17.000.
Clutch replaced at 18.000
Clunk in the steering at 20.000.
Rear Seat started to wear badly at 21.600.
Noise coming from the trunk at 22.300
Suspension buShes replaced at 25.000.
Oil filter replaced at 28.000.
Water pump replaced at 30.000.
If you value your money and your patience take a note:
never buy a fiat!
They are so poor built as the quality from the dealer service!
Make sure you keep distance from these cars!
Avoid any car from this manufacturer!
Stay away from palios!
This car it's a an reliable load of junk!

FIAT PALIO GO! 2003 MODEL SOUTH AFRICA
I RECIEVED A FIAT PALIO GO! AS A FIRST CAR FROM MY PARENTS TWO YEARS AGO, AND FROM READING YOUR LIST OF THE FAULTS YOU HAVE ENCOUNTED, HAVE JUST ONE TO MATCH (THAT BEING THE GEAR BOX).
MY PALIO HAS ONLY 46000KM OR 28750Miles AND NOW DUE TO PROBLEMS CHANGING INTO THIRD GEAR HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND GEAR BOX.
OTHER THAN THAT CARS ONE FAULT I MUST SAY THAT I HAVE HAD SOME OF THE BEST TIMES IN IT AND IT HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN.
OH AND THE SPEAKER SYSTEM WILL ONLY FAIL IF USED IMPROPERLY.
YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IT IS ONLY A FACTORY SYSTEM AND A 10watt RMS SPEAKER.
I've owned a palio GTX 1.6 Petrol for over 3 years now, and had only 3 problems:
1. Water leaks in to the head lights, got it fixed permanently in 2004 after two replacements. In 2004 they released a better head light for palio with the leak problem fixed.
2. A/c thermostat refused to work and got it replaced 3 times, unfortunately this problem keeps occurring even after geting it replaced thrice, so I desided to forget about it. I still have the problem, on long rides i'll have make sure to switch ff the A/c after 5 or 6 hours drive for 10 minutes to unfreeze the A/c water, however there is no difference in cooling, that part is perfectly fine.
3. I tried to fix a LPG kit and the people to whom I gave it fixed the emulator with wrong setting and this caused all the sensors to work incorrectly. So I went ahead and got rid of the kit and the problem was solved.
Later I found that the A/c problem kept reoccuring only because I used to put the airflow in vent insted of cirulating the air. Wen the blower is put in vent, all the dust from out side is sucked in and this caused the thermostat to fail.
My Palio in short never gave me any problems besides the once caused by my ignorance. As the first comment either the car does not belong to fiat or the car was never treated like a car.
When a car is built it is built keeping in mind a few desired outputs. The car once built will only give u the desired out put if the car is treated right. If it palio is used to replace a SUV I would not blame the car for the problems it give.
Fiat Palio is one sexy powerfull car and is also a car with comparatively very less maintenance.
PS: Before using a car know about the car, what it is meant for, what it can do and it cannot do. There is no point complaining that my sports car is unable to perform like a hummer!!
I have been driving a Fiat Palio 1.6 for about 5 years now. During this time I always kept on trying new cars that came in the market. But I have not found a single car which would come close to a Palio 1.6 standards. The Engine is simply awesome. The response it give is thrilling. The balance of the car is great at high speeds. The space inside the car is superb. I feel one cannot ask for anything more for the price you pay for a car.
Don't know why the person in comment 1 had so many issues.
