1997 Fiat Punto 60S review from UK and Ireland
"Top car, but need to be kept well!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Err lots, but its better than factory standard now!
Gmax sportline suspension kit, 45mm drop on gas dampers for £350.
Killed the gearbox doing a burnout 4 months ago, needed new gearbox, mounting bracket and clutch for £670.
Had the front disks done and brake pads. At 60k I've needed new trailing arms coz of bush faliure, that cost £200 and a new brake cylinder coz it was pissing fluid! also got the brake shoes replaces what also cost £80!!!
Got a Green Cotton air filter to replace filter housing, improvement in mid range.
Head gasket is leaking and car is now lagging badly due to the desperate need for a good service and the timing belt needs changing.
General comments?
Car is nippy as hell and stiffer suspension makes the car a harder ride, amazing difference to standard sussy setup.
Only a 1.24cc engine, but it beats a lot of other cars at the lights, got 16s with r45 tyres now and road holding is better than a bloody golf now!!!
Like a lot of other puntos mine to pulls to the left, can't sus out why??? and also the bushes for anti-roll bar on the front wishbones have to much play in them now the car is lower to the deck causing an annoying rattle on hard road surfaces.
