2000 Fiat Punto Sporting (new shape) review from UK and Ireland
"Probably the best car in its class"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel line cut through by the rear wheel.
Second gear in the gearbox playing up.
Replacement gearbox on order to be replaced under warranty shortly.
General comments?
Excellent car, I love the looks and performance, the handling is superb. I particually like the city mode which makes the power steering lighter in town, it also detunes the engine for town driving and makes the car more managable in heavy traffic (not a lot of people know that).
The dealer has been a pain though, the blighters kerbed the car while it was in having some work done on the fuel line, badly damaged one of the alloy wheels and upset the tracking, it has taken nearly 4 months to get them to admit this and replace the wheel.
Still, I would buy another tomorrow.
