2006 Fiat Punto Active review from UK and Ireland
"I like my punto, but would not be upset if it caught on fire ha ha"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The very first problem I encountered 2 weeks into ownership was the car not starting. It turnewd out the car was flooding!
I called the AA out and was told this was a common fault so booked it into the Fiat garage for the first time. I cannot complain about the staff as they are all firm friends of mine and extremely helpful and will sort any problem out you have.
I was told that it appeared that I had not driven it for long enough and that it needed to warm up before switching off, I had actually driven the car 24 miles back from uni that night!!!
Fiat re mapped or downloaded some software to sort this out, it has worked, but now the car occassionally is reluctant to start! so will be booked back into to get this sorted.
The passenger door seems to have dropped a bit and people are finding it difficult to open from both the inside and outside.
Which I will book it in to be sorted very soon as it is frustrating!.
General comments?
I do like my little punto and it serves me well. I have owned it now for nearly 4 monhs and have covered over 9000 miles in it already as I go back and forth up the motorway. All I wanted was a cheap motor to rack up the mileage on and it does this superbly.
I got my punto on the (0%) offer and it was in the motor show sale at just £5,500 so I think I got a bargain.
At the same time my sister purchased a Panda dynamic with air con and hers has not had a single fault it is so so much better than the punto has the same engine and is much quicker off the mark! and feels much more solid.
I see that there has been a common problem with the doors which are a pain and as soon as I get mine done will update with what happened along with the engine fault.
Also another little niggle is the indicators do not stay on round a round about and always like to cancel off too soon!!!
Another niggle is sometimes you put the wipers on intermittent and they simple do not work and you have to use one of the other speeds this does not always happen, but is a pain!
