"good roomy car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Fixed the engine when I purchased it, it was exiting white smoke.

New tires at 158000.

Did a lot of work on carburetor, can't find a new one.

Car consumes a lot of fuel.

General comments?

I love my car and I love regattas.

This is my second regata as the first one turned to be in a very bad shape and sold it after less than a year of ownership.

The engine is a 1.5 petrol at 83 BHP whichis very low considering its size. but it is relatively fast and pulls well in traffic.

The car is very stable and after putting michellen tyres it sticks to the road very well.

The dashboard is very useful, but very plasticky and falls apart very quickly.

The driver chair is uncomfortable.

My daily commute is about 70 KM so I drive the car a lot. it performes well on the highway as long as you keep the rev close to 3000 rpm and don't turn on the AC.

Regatas suffer from overheating in hot weather as we have in egypt, turning on the AC on a hot day in traffic pushes the temp gauge to 100 degrees Celsius.

The car is very roomy and the trunk is the biggest I have seen on ANY car. it is 513 liters.

The carburetor needs fixing (i think) as it averages 7.5 km/l which is very low. I averaged 9.8 km/l on my older regata even thou it was in a worse shape.

This is a good, tough and roomy car for afamily. it is bigger than a dogan or shahin in both interior anf trunk space. but when you buy check for rust and make sure to check the car well at a trusted mechanic.

My dream now is to buy a 1.6 s100 100 BHP regata. :)

I'm the original poster.

I, ve done around 25000 kms in my regata.

I'm sad to say that due to my long daily commute of about 80 kms, i'll be looking for another car soon.

The regata is still in good shape, but uncomfortable seats and heavy fuel consumption are just unbearable. I'm thinking of getting a tempra with no more than 80,000 kms on it. if you are in egypt and have such a car for sale mail me on fmohiy@yahoo.com.
