"Great powertrain, with much to be desired!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear struts needed replacement, horrible sounds emmitted form rear when they were shot (when I bought it form the auction) cost=> 350 Canadian dollars.

Considering the low mileage, I thought the car would have at least been in minty shape.

General comments?

Overall the car is exactly as it was explained to me under other Comments. Unfortunately I made the mistake thinking the fit and finish would be as tight as my girlfriends 97 Escort... too bad I was misled.

The powertrain is great! the car moves along effortlessly in city traffic. But once your out on the highway or in fast moving traffic, watch out!!! your likely to get run over by bigger, faster cars.

Fuel economy is very good. As well, the Mazda 1.3 is a great little motor. The car always starts on the first try, with absolutely no hesitation.

In comparing this car to my rusted out 86 Nova/Corolla also wiht a 5 speed, I'd have to say that this car leaves much to be desired. Sure th eprowetrain is very strong and bullit-proof. but considering that I got this car at such a good price, I think I'm gonna do another person a favor, and sell it to thsi son/daughter for a 1st car, considering it's got the dual air bags, and ABS too.

I picked the car up for 3150 at a public auction, but I didn't realize how much work had been done to this car, or how much they wetre selling for in my local classifieds (ballpark $4000-4200 range with over 120,000kms). I think I'm gonna sell this car as I'd rather spend a couple of of thousands less on my next Toyota product, as I'm sure that it'll probably be a much better car, even considering the additional mileage, and older overall.

If you have any q's, please feel free to email me at bmwguy 2 2 @roadfly.org (no spaces) email me too if your interested in the car.

Aspires are expensive in Canada, eh?

In the states, you would be lucky to get $1500US for a decent one.

Even with high gas prices, seems nobody wants 'em. More people seem to want it's little sh**box predecessor, the Festiva.

Everything is expensive up here in Canada, especailly in the prairie provinces (i.e. Saskatchewan, and Manitoba)

I agree with the first comment noone seems to want these cars I had one when it first rolled out in 1994 it was a good car, painfully slow, but reliable, however you can find them anywhere for around 1000-2000 dollars in good shape, as far as the Festiva goes that car has some serious kick with the 5-speed I can see why people would want them.
