Heater core started to leak at 100,000.
Body started to rust around 120,000.
The clutch in the electric motors for the power windows went out at 135,000.
This truck has been a very reliable vehicle.
I have never had to replace any major parts for this vehicle.
All the parts that I have replaced have been easy to do.
I have a '87 bronco with 150,080 miles on it. I have had it since it came out. I have only had to replace the passenger lock and window, since I did it my self it was pretty cheap. The only problem I have with it is it eats gas like there is no tomorrow, but it is my babbie. I don't know why everyone says they have problems with it. But I keep my bronco in tip top shape with properley maintained. The lock on the door is the only thing that tore up on its on. The window was my fault.
I have a 1987 Bronco and when it ran it was great. I will admit that I abused it (I'm 17). I jumped it, mudded it, and rock crawled. It did it all just great, and completely stock. Until one day out mudding, with my girlfriend and little brother, I found a 4ft deep rut that was in my mud bogging lake. Long story short I blew the strong 302ci. I miss it, and I'm looking at another with the 4.9L I-6.
This is an update to the last comment, I did indeed buy the "new" 1987 Bronco with the 4.9L I-6 and 3speed C-3 transmission. I'm in love once agian. This truck is slow, but if you're not in a hurry its great. I've learned my lesson with my last one. I won't be jummping or hard-core mud bogging, on purpose anyway. I bought it Thursday, May 26th and already did some custom bed liner spray paint to the lower panels, put a CB in, CD player with high end 4x9 speakers, an oil change and new air filter, next on my list is a 2- meter ham radio. On Tuesday the 31st of May I managed to sink it in some newly found quick sand near my home in Laramie Wyoming. I walked home and used my dads 2001 Dodge Cummings to attempt to pull it out, but in the proses I got it stuck too. My friends and I tried to get them out until 3am that morning with no luck. My dad ended up calling a tow truck at 7am. A winch, $315, 1 Laramie Police officer and 5 Albany County Sheriffs later we got them out. The sheriffs haven't given me a ticket for trespassing, or defacement of public property yet, but they said they would call me. I will update later with more info. contact me at trevorwalsh@msn.com Thanks.
