1986 Ford Bronco XLT review from North America
"A damn tank!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There have been quite a few problems with this truck (I'll explain why later).
The paint has faded.
Usual sun damage to the interior has occured.
The oil pan began leaks.
Blown water pump.
Bad alternator.
Bad battery.
Blown radiator.
A handful of broken U-Joints.
Heavy scarring on the yokes of the driveshaft.
HUGE dent on the skidplate.
Hooks on the crashbar are NOT heavy duty. I ripped them off.
Blown shocks.
Seats to not sit upright.
Leaky windshield.
General comments?
I absolutely adore my truck. I took the top off for this summer and I can't keep out from behind the wheel.
I have been wheeling this truck since the week I got it until now. It has had its share of problems, but for a 20 year old machine, it amazes me.
The only few things I need for it now is a 4" lift, some swampers, if I can get my way a solid front axle and a new rear, a rebuild kit for the motor (that's because I want one, not because it needs one) to fix the small leaks, and I'd like to convert rear drums to discs.
I'm leaving for the Navy in September and won't have a damn thing to spend money on except for this truck. If I have my way, I'll hand it down to my kids when I grow old.
