1994 Ford Bronco XLT review from North America
"What ford needs to aim for in their new vehicles"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The transmission fluid had never been changed, so it was full of sludge.
This caused 2 problems:
hard shifting, which in turn chewed up the rear end and slamming into gear that would rock the car. the first time it went into the dealer, they replaced the whole rear end at a price of $1700. it stopped it for a while, then it came back. the ford dealership then flushed the transmission, and replaced the rear end again, but this time they didn't charge me for the rear end, only the flushing.
Has run fine since.
Air bag warning flashing intermittently, but for some reason stopped?
Rear power window is sticky and sometimes doesn't roll down, like that with ALL bronco's.
Small rip in the back leather seat caused by me
reliable as any ford was back then!!! which is VERY RELIABLE, and I'm sorry to say that you will never find this in new fords.
General comments?
This is by far the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. it is an XLT in electric red, with the premuim alloy wheels, upgraded suspension with heavy duty shocks, power everything, including seats, which I hear is rare.
We've driven it to montana many times and it has performed admirably. even with it stuffed with camping gear and 3 people, the power was very re-assuring and passed quite nicely.
The leather seats could use more bolstering for off-roading, but they are soft and comfy.
And speaking of off-roading...it's a BEAST!
I have yet to get stuck I it, and I have been in 2 feet deep mud, and I powered through it nicely. also does well in ice. its fun to tow people out of ruts and stuff.
The fuel consumption isn't all that bad, really. 21 on the highway, but (uck) 13 in town. I don't find this bad for a large SUV like this.
Its such an easy vehicle to live with, but it is easy to speed because its so smooth.
These things are built like tanks, and this one will run forever!
