Well at the 385,000k mark the clutch started slipping and it won't pass emmisions so I put a rebuilt engine and clutch in.
The original engine lasted 385,000k and still runs, just not as nice as the rebuilt.
Did the ball joints at 380,000k.
But still no rust and looking good.
When I bought this truck I was surprised at just what this little thing could do.
Great truck, goes anywhere, never been stuck, pulled people out of some of the places I have been through. I pulled 2 Blazers out last month in one hole.
Tough little truck and it won't die.
I bought my '85 B-II on Jan 2, 2001, with 108,000 miles on it for $900. I put in another $1,000, including tires, a new carburetor and some other items that had worn with the years and now I drive it everywhere. I don't like having the last carburetted V-6 engine, preferring fuel injection, but despite the quirks that come with a carb hooked up to a 16-year-old computer and sensors just as old, I love it. As a news reporter on a Florida barrier island, I have to get out when the winds and water are high and I feel much safer in this vehicle than any other I have owned, plus the air conditioner still works and I recently converted it to R-134. If I won the lotto tomorrow, she would have a few new parts (including a stereo) and that's all. I would, of course, buy my wife a new car but my Bronco II (which I nicknamed "Elway II," after the best Bronco ever) is the one I will probably own when I die of old age. No Buick for this old man.
